I had a dream recently... in the dream, I had a new tattoo.
The last time this happened, I got the tattoo three days later. Impulsively.
Before that dream, keys were interesting trinkets, random objects I held on to long after they served their purpose because I liked old things that had no use.
The dream created a tattoo. The tattoo created a project.
The project changed my life in more ways than I can count.

---
But this isn't about keys, it's about new tattoos.
I'd been contemplating my next one--- "Nemo perit." It means "No one dies." It's not immortality, it's the concept that if I fuck up, no one dies. I am not a brain surgeon. I remind myself of this fact on an almost daily basis.
But a few weeks ago (the night of the NYC show), I had a dream. And in this dream, I had a tattoo on my shoulder.
And so it shall be. I'm not sure WHEN, but it will happen. Because after what happened the last time, there's no telling what will happen next.
Love,
Beth

when dreams take flight
nice choice and you should make it an early holiday present to yourself.

as for tattoos - shush ... I want more more more ... and people talking about them makes me want more!

What do you want to get? Generally they say if it's been a year and you still want it, you should go for it. (I tend toward the impulsive because I figure I've got a lot of skin to fill up and no expectation of conforming to societal norms to stop me.)

As for what I want to get... the immense acting student in me speaks. :P I want the last words spoken from the musical Sunday in the Park with George. Sondheim speaks to me in ways I cannot even define, and the words "White: a blank page or canvas. So many possibilities." resonate with my life quite a bit. (In the original quote, it also says "his favorite", but I wanted it to be a bit more personal.) I think I want it on the inside of my left wrist, and I was going to possibly attempt white ink, both for the meaning and for visibility issues (casting directors don't take to tattoos very well :P), but I have no idea if that would work well, or what orientation or placement or anything else I want. This is why I need help from an artist, hee.
I also want a tiny black ankh on the inside of my left ankle (for a bunch of different reasons) and have since I was, like, 12, but that's so generic and small I feel like I could have it done anywhere.
Is the tattoo you're gonna get the tattoo you discussed in the post? Or are you gonna keep it a surprise? :)

I love this logo of yours - the contrast of the edges to the curves. Looking at now though, I noticed that that is not a key as part of the BH, it's a bottle opener key. The end of the key gives it away - the hook is there to grasp the edge of the bottle cap.
see?
Of course I could be mistaken - and keys with those hooks could exist (which would make the bottle opener key more discreet I suppose), however, I just thought I'd pass along this observation in case it is a valid one!

Knowing this now though, makes me happy because I suppose I unintentionally incorporated an inside joke - and thus it has just become eerily more appropriate for you to have quoted "Ampersand" - & in response to it - I believe it.
I was torn about the splatters - because I didn't want to risk it looking bad-sloppy as opposed to creatively-calculated-sloppy (in other words, it works on paper with the original, but I was afraid that it may not translate well once re-created on the shirt). I cut them into the stencil and then decided to free-hand over it. Except for the key, which I did not know was unintentionally curved, oops!
I'm glad you like it, I figured you would, but it's good to have confirmation that you do (the placement, size, color etc all racked my brain). Jeri picked out the color, and it reminded me the green coat w/ the Obama pin you've posted photos of so I was happy with it.

I had read your references to keys in previous posts, but wasn't aware of the story behind those references. Are you still collecting keys?

I like the timing of this, and I wanted to point it out.
You have amazing karma... and I think there's a reason.

I never quote song lyrics, I ESPECIALLY never quote AFP song lyrics.
... but there's no such thing as accidents. :)
I (heart) my shirt. It makes me giddy.
