I saw Margaret Cho last night, and Kelly opened for her. And sang the SHOES song, which makes me think about shoes (inexplicably, huh?)
KT has so many shoes. She loves shoes, or, rather, she sees shoes as necessary and figures they should at least be cute. She has tall shoes and small shoes and shiny shoes and matte shoes and red shoes and black shoes. She has shoes that she wears frequently and shoes that are special occasion shoes. She has shoes that match particular outfits!
I do not have so many shoes. I have a box in my spare room that probably has eight pairs or so in it. My steel-toed work shoes from when I worked crew at the theatre. Slippers my mom bought me. The stripper high heels I bought when I was with Tori because I thought they would spice up our sex life. (They didn't, but I occasionally wear them when I clean my room, because feeling a little bit off balance helps the process.)
But mostly, I wear sneakers. Black ones. I don't care about brand, I just like comfortable, plain black sneakers. I wear them every single day until at some point KT looks at my feet and goes, "Um... you need new shoes." And invariably, they are by that point falling apart.
I have never really loved a pair of shoes.
But now I have these ones. They were a gift.

I love them. I love the way I walk in them, I love the way they feel, I love that they have a big sole that makes me feel tall.
LOVE.
KT even remarked that they correct my "dyke walk" and that when wearing them I have the posture of a ballerina gone to seed.
I think now I understand why people get very into shoes.
Chelsea just got these boots, and I'm jealous:

One of my exes had a pair of lace up Doc Martens and watching her put them on was incredibly sexy. The lacing up process is hot.
And on that note... here's a photo of me taken last night by the lovely Fairytale Vegas on my freakin' iPhone!

I look happy because I am.
Love,
Beth
