So, the keys have started to arrive.

I am... stunned.. at what I am getting in the mail. Not just the keys, but the STORIES of the keys. I love this. This is an amazing, unexpected light in my life.

We are making ART together. I didn't even know it.

(I am also sad, because apparently keys that are not wrapped in something do not go through the mail that well. A couple of letters arrived torn open with no keys. For those of you who haven't yet sent them, wrap the keys in several sheets of paper or just cover the ENTIRE envelope in clear packing tape. That will do the trick.)

I have decided to document the keys and stories I get in the mail on another key-specific blog, called Other People's Keys.

For those of you who have already sent me keys, particularly Angeleena from FL, Peter from FL, Mike from MI, Lindsey from VA, Amy from CA, and Grace from NC, please let me know if it's okay that I publish what you sent me on the blog (sans names). Otherwise I will just put up photos the keys!

I am assembling your packages of things tonight. Presents in the mail.

Love,
Beth

As one who was a return mail clerk at one time, let me remind people that the US Postal service is almost completely automated. Thus the only time a human touches your mail is when it is pulled out of the box and then when it's delivered to [personal profile] bethofalltrades's mailbox.

So, wrap the key in paper to give it a uniform shape and then tape it to the middle of the inside of the envelope or better yet, tap that to a 3x5 card to put into the letter. This will give you a higher chance of getting it through alright.

(Mike from MI here) You absolutely have my permission... and feel free to edit what I'm sure was horrible grammar given the haste with which I wrote and sent it.

I've had a lousy day, and coming home to find this has brightened it. Can I thank you in person at the Pontiac show next month?

Hi Mike from MI! I'm glad I could brighten your day... your stories brightened mine.

... Pontiac show?

I'm so glad they did.

Pontiac, MI... the Boss is playing there on 24 September, right after the Pittsburgh gig.

Nope, not my boss. Brian is there with World Inferno. (I am hoping for a Michigan date in November-- I will see you then.)

Curse my inferior color-parsing skills! I'll keep an eye out for the Michigan date.

I used to have a large keychain of keys that I had no idea what any of them were used for. My parents gave the keys to me as a kid, to play with.

However, I have zero extra keys these days.

As soon as I get one, somehow, whenever I do, it's heading your way, because this is very cool.

(I wish my ex had given me back her house keys after we broke up and before she lost them. Those, I would have sent in.)

I'm Amy from CA, and you definitely have my permission to post what I sent. Hopefully it was mostly legible. ;)

I'm glad it got there, but I didn't wrap them. I hope the keys made it with the letter!

This is Angeleena (from CA, not FL)... you may certainly publish what I sent you!

I love this project.

For grammar and length reasons otherpeopleskeys doesn't work.

Just, you know, in case anyone else syndicates everything through LJ.

I don't get it, but it's awesome! I will pimp to the masses. :)

I'm bad at keeping up with blogs that don't feed to my friendslist. :) It wouldn't let me call it otherpeople'skeys, though, a) apostrophe b) even without apostrophe it was too long. So!
